The "Most Valuable Player" is one of the biggest awards a player can get after championships. Our current reigning mvp "Stephen Curry" and champion from last year is going for another one this year. He is really killing it in this race and you may think there is no questioning him winning it but their are a few that might have something to say about it. Now I could go on a rant about how James Harden should have won it instead last year but it's the past and Harden is going for it again. I think there are many candidates this year for who could be the mvp this year because many of the Superstars came back from injuries last year. I think its safe to say that Stephen Curry, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard are all potential mvp candidates.
Now the last two I mentioned I think really have a chance to do something for the rest of the year. They have been putting up great numbers and have been really helping there team out. They both can defend almost every player in the NBA, and on top of that they have a deadly offence outside the arc and inside. James Harden and Anthony Davis are kind of both on the same boat here for the race to MVP, they both are on a struggling team and are putting up good numbers. The difference is Houston will make the playoffs and Pelicans most likely wont. I think Curry is just a better Harden without the excessive free throws so it will be very hard for him to compete. Anthony Davis puts up points (w/49% shooting), Rebounds, Blocks and Steals. He really is a won of a kind and that shouldn't be un noticed just because he plays on one of the worst teams in the league right now. The deadly duo in Oklahoma, Westbrook and Durant are going for a ring this year and don't have that bad of a chance to get it this year round. The thing I like about Durant and Westbrook is that they play really well with each other and have a very hard offence to crack down. Russell is an uber athletic gaurd that almost averages a triple double and Durant has an unstoppable shot with his height with his way to finish around the rim. I saved the King for last, Lebron James, is he really a contender for MVP? He most definitely is. Lebron is not only being a beast on the court it has an effect on his teammates as well. He averages about 26 points (w/50% shooting), 6 assists, 7.5 rebounds 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks. That right there is some players hope to be, and the thing with Lebron is that he doesn't play like MJ, Kobe, or whoever you want to name he plays like Lebron.
In conclusion anything could in the rest of the season but my bets is on Lebron unless Stephen Curry wants to rob it again.
